Touring Picture Book: In the Swamp by the Light of the Moon

Hello and welcome back to Along Came Poppy! The last few weeks really seem to have flown by here and, as we are already well into March, it is time for another Touring Picture Book choice.

For those of you new to the blog, every month the Touring Picture Book team, comprising of Acorn Books, BookBairn, Mamma Filz and ourselves, choose a new picture book together with activities inspired by the story to share with you. This month our choice is the enchanting In the Swamp by the Light of the Moon written and illustrated by Frann Preston-Gannon and published by Templar Books.

Touring Picture Book: All Are Welcome

Hello and welcome back to Along Came Poppy after our little blogging break. Today as part of the Touring Picture Book team, we are delighted to be sharing the wonderfully colourful All Are Welcome written by Alexandra Penfold, illustrated by Suzanne Kaufman and published in the UK earlier this year by Bloomsbury.

This is the first Touring Picture Book of 2019 and as always we are collaborating with fellow picture book enthusiasts and bloggers Bookbairn, Mamma Filz and Acorn Books. We have all shared a different activity inspired by the same book so please do take a look at where All Are Welcome took each of us this month.

The Touring Book Club: The Boy and the Bear #TouringPictureBook

We are back with another Touring Picture Book post and this month The Touring Book Club team comprising of ourselves and three other book loving families (Bookbairn, Acorn Books and Mamma Fliz) have chosen the very beautiful The Boy and the Bear to share with you all. Written by Tracey Corderoy and illustrated by Sarah Massini, The Boy and the Bear is a heart-warming story of an unlikely friendship and is perfect for snuggling up with on a cold Winter's day.

The Touring Book Club: STORM #TouringPictureBook

After an incredibly blustery weekend, it seems incredibly fitting that our Touring Book Club choice this month is STORM. Written and illustrated by Sam Usher and published by Templar Publishing, STORM is the fourth and final instalment in a beautiful seasonal series of books, which celebrate the special relationship between a little boy and his grandad.

Touring Book Club: How To Be A Lion & Books About Friendship #TouringPictureBook

Our Touring Book Club choice this month is the wonderful How To Be a Lion written and illustrated by Ed Vere and published by Puffin Books. When we first heard about the release of this book in June, we were all incredibly excited as Ed is one of our favourite authors and illustrators. We just love his brilliantly bold style of illustration and the way he writes with such warmth and humour. Ed also has an incredible talent for creating really unique and expressive characters, such as Max the Brave and Grumpy Frog, so we were expecting great things from his new book, How To Be A Lion.

Touring Book Club: The Girls #TouringPictureBook

Welcome back to the Touring Book Club! This month we have a very special picture book to share with you,  The Girls written by Lauren Ace, illustrated by Jenny Lovlie and published by Caterpillar Books. If this is your first visit, the Touring Book Club is a monthly collaboration between four UK based book bloggers, where we take a look at the same picture book and share our own ideas for going beyond the story.

This month inspired by The Girls we explore the meaning of friendship and share a few simple ideas to celebrate International Friendship Day.

Touring Book Club: Dinosaurs Don't Draw #TouringPictureBook

Last month you may remember that we joined forces with three of our favourite UK based bloggers, Acorn Books, Bookbairn and Mamma Filz to create the Touring Book Club and we each shared an activity inspired by the very beautiful Up in the Leaves  written by Shira Boss and illustrated by Jamey Christoph. We were so delighted by how well the Touring Book Club was received that we are back to share a fun selection of arty activities to accompany the fantastic book, Dinosaurs Don't Draw.

Touring Book Club: Up In The Leaves #TouringPictureBook

Hello and welcome back to Along Came Poppy! We are very excited to confirm that we have joined forces with fellow picture book enthusiasts and UK based bloggers BookBairn, Mamma Filz and Acorn Books to create the Touring Book Club. Together we aim to give you four different perspectives on a newly released picture book and we will magically transport you beyond the story itself by sharing our unique ideas for exploring the themes within the book.
