This week we are joining The Happy Book Club along with some other book lovers on Twitter for #top5friday and we are discussing the best dinosaur books around. We thought we'd share our top five choices as selected by Mini Reviewer and dinosaur fan, Theo (3). We hope these get you roaring...
1. Dinosaurs in the Supermarket - Timothy Knapman and Sarah Warburton
When I asked Theo to think of some dinosaur books, he immediately remembered this fantastic picture book that we recently borrowed from the library. There are dinosaurs wreaking havoc in the supermarket and only a little boy can see them. If only all shopping trips were this exciting! We had great fun spotting the dinosaurs as they hid behind the fruit and veg and got the giggles as the chaos unfolded. A highly recommended read.
2. Tyrannosaurus Drip - Julia Donaldson and David Roberts
Anyone who regularly reads regularly will know just how much we love Julia Donaldson books so it's no surprise that Tyrannosaurus Drip is a longstanding favourite in this house. After a mix-up with some dino eggs, a poor duckbilled dinosaur is raised by a mean but rather dim T Rex family. This story reminds me a lot of The Ugly Duckling but with a lot more bite!

3. Megs Eggs - Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski
In this story Meg, Mog and Owl get more than they bargained for when Meg casts a spell on their breakfast eggs. I bet you can imagine what hatches out, that's right - dinosaurs! The Mini Reviewers have loved these simple Meg and Mog stories since they were really young. The bold and bright illustrations and exciting adventures take some beating. They have been read over and over again.
4. Ten Little Dinosaurs - Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty
Dinosaurs Love Underpants is definitely the best in the "Underpants" series of books and, yes, we've read them all! This book puts an interesting spin on how the dinosaurs got wiped out - it was all down to their pants of course! If you're looking for a bit of fun and fantastic illustrations then this is the book for you. As you can see we may have got carried away with this book when we started potty training...

4. Ten Little Dinosaurs - Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty
This was another library find. It has an eye-catching cover and colourful illustrations throughout. Although it is a very simple story, it is perfect for little ones to count along with. I was getting slightly worried as the baby dinosaurs kept disappearing but fortunately they are all reunited with their mummy in the end - phew!
5. Dinosaurs Love Underpants - Clare Freedman and Ben CortDinosaurs Love Underpants is definitely the best in the "Underpants" series of books and, yes, we've read them all!
